Modern vehicles have to cope with increasingly higher loads. With multi-axle vehicles, more flexibility and maneuverability is required. This is where the active electro-hydraulic auxiliary steering comes into play. Additional axles are also steered via the existing main steering in accordance with the vehicle-specific steering strategy.
No mechanical connections are required between the steering axles. The integrated safety function, which monitors all operating states of the steering, detects system errors and initiates the appropriate safety reactions. The detected errors can be read out for servicing via a diagnostic interface.
