
Variable-speed drive solutions
Conventional hydraulic drives often run continuously at their rated speed, with excess energy being converted into heat without being utilised. This is where HYDAC variable-speed drive (VSD) solutions come into play: A frequency converter regulates the speed of the electric motor precisely according to the current requirements of the hydraulic consumer. During load pauses, the speed is reduced to zero. This not only saves a huge amount of energy, but also protects the oil and all the mechanical components of your system.
Symbiosis between hydraulics and electronics
The technical superiority of variable-speed hydraulic systems lies in the perfectly co-ordinated combination of hydraulic pump, synchronous or asynchronous motor and an intelligent drive controller with integrated HYDAC software. This makes it possible to simplify the hydraulic installation with switching valves instead of control valves. This software has pre-configured hydraulic functions (e.g. pressure control, positioning or flow setting), which can dramatically simplify the hydraulic system.
The hydraulics are reduced to their key strengths: Building up power. The weakness of hydraulics: Energy-intensive control through variable displacement pumps and control valves is transferred to the electrical side with energy-saving effect.
This leads to efficiency at several levels: Reduction of power & cooling requirements, tank & oil volume as well as material & weight.
