Orbital motors

Orbital motors

HYDAC orbital motors are in their element wherever heavy loads need to be moved slowly and in a controlled manner. Whether used for driving sweeper rollers, conveyor belts or agricultural attachments – the orbital principle enables extremely high torque in minimal installation space. Unlike high-speed motors with a downstream gearbox, the orbital motor offers direct, efficient power transmission, which reduces system complexity and increases your machine’s reliability.

Gerotor vs geroller: choosing the right technology

Within our orbital motor series, we rely on two proven design principles to achieve maximum performance:

  • The gerotor principle: ideal for applications in the low to medium pressure range. Simple, compact and cost-effective.
  • The geroller principle: here, meshing rollers ensure minimal friction. The result: higher starting torque, improved efficiency at high pressure and longer service life, even under extreme conditions.
  • Drain port: this feature is included by default to relieve pressure on the shaft seal and ensure safe operation during both forward and reverse modes.

Premium bearings for radial loads

Design engineers particularly appreciate HYDAC orbital motors for their robust bearings. Many models are designed to easily handle high radial forces, such as those generated by directly mounted sprockets or wheels. The wide variety of shaft ends (cylindrical, toothed or conical) and flanges (2-hole or 4-hole SAE) makes integration into your existing design effortless. With HYDAC, you’re investing in a durable drive component that delivers exceptional performance through minimal internal leakage and consistent operation.
