HYDAC piston accumulators are designed as separation accumulators with a metallic piston separating the gas side from the fluid side. This design principle enables pressure ratios that are significantly higher than those of elastic separation elements and extremely large draw-off volumes of up to 3,300 litres. The mechanical guiding of the piston makes these accumulators resistant to rapid depressurisation and makes them perfect for applications in which large amounts of energy need to be made available over prolonged periods.

Precision and monitoring

A key feature of our piston accumulators is their enormous flexibility in condition monitoring. Since the piston position provides direct information on the status of the gas volume, various measuring systems – such as ultrasound, laser, magneto-strictive sensors (HLT) or cable-pulling systems – can be integrated precisely. This precise detection of the piston phases enables the correctness of the gas pre-charge pressure to be continuously verified and maintenance requirements to be recognised at an early stage. Such continuous monitoring is especially essential for securing critical emergency functions, for example in power plants, in order to guarantee the continuous availability of the accumulator.

HYDAC piston accumulators can easily be connected to accumulator stations and expanded with additional nitrogen bottles to cost-effectively increase accumulator capacity. Our engineers can help you choose the best sealing materials for fluids such as HFC fluids or biodegradable oils.
