Sustainability in purchasing: ensuring compliance with the German Supply Chain Act - (LkSG)

The German Bundestag laid the foundation for responsible and sustainable value creation in supply chains with the adoption of the Supply Chain Act (Lieferkettensorgfaltsgesetz or LkSG) in July 2021.

HYDAC rises to the challenges of complying with all corporate due diligence obligations to prevent human rights violations in supply chains. Every day, our purchasing department ensures that we fulfil the human rights and environmental obligations set out in the German Supply Chain Act (LkSG) appropriately and effectively.

  • The goal: to safeguard human rights and contribute to environmental protection. We analyse risks in the supply chain at an early stage in order to introduce suitable measures.
  • Support from Integrity Next: our partner Integrity Next supports us in fulfilling the legal requirements via a holistic risk management process.

Further information on our Business Code and our Declaration of Principles with regard to the environment and human rights can be found in our Downloads.

Do you have further questions about ensuring compliance with the German Supply Chain Act? We have compiled all the answers for you

Why am I being invited to the German Supply Chain Act (LkSG) assessment and what do I have to do?

As part of the German Supply Chain Act (LkSG), we carry out an annual risk analysis of our suppliers. If we identify any anomalies here, the suppliers concerned are invited to an assessment by e-mail to complete the relevant questionnaires and provide documents.

What happens if I fail the assessment?

The aim of the German Supply Chain Act (LkSG) assessment is not to exclude suppliers. We want to work with you to create solutions to protect people and the environment and avert risks.

How do I get access to store my data and how is it processed?

You will be invited to the assessment by HYDAC via e-mail. The data is entered using standardised questionnaires which are filled out on an online platform. Your data will be treated confidentially and will not be passed on to third parties.

Is it mandatory for me to provide information regarding the German Supply Chain Act (LkSG)?

The German Supply Chain Act (LkSG) sets out key criteria for the appropriate organisation of the duty of care: the appropriateness is determined by the type and scope of the business activity, the ability to influence the supplier and the severity of the expected violation of the company. An obligation therefore depends on the individual company situation and risk situation.
